Slovak border police said that in the first four months of this year, border guards detained 338 men from Ukraine.
An increase in illegal border crossings by Ukrainian men has been observed in Slovakia. This was said by the press secretary of the Slovak border police, Agnes Kopernicka, Barron’s reports.
In the first four months of this year, border guards detained and then released 338 Ukrainians. During the same period in 2023, 166 similar cases were recorded.
“In the first week of May, we detained 45 people at the green border while in the same period last year there were four,” the official said.
According to him, the Ukrainian men were detained, given permission to stay in Slovakia, and then released.
“Since the beginning of the war, there has not been a single case of deportation of immigrants from Slovakia to Ukraine,” Kopernicka said.
Since the beginning of the mass war in Slovakia, only 1,484 Ukrainians have been caught at the border.
We remind you that Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said that his country will not send its military to war, because Ukraine is not a NATO member country.
