On Wednesday, May 8, during the morning shelling of critical infrastructure, significant damage was caused to hydropower facilities. To date, all hydroelectric power generation has suffered devastating damage. Ukrhydroenergo announced this on Facebook on May 9.
It is noted that repairing and restoring destroyed equipment requires great effort and financial costs.
Meanwhile, Ukrenergo reported that on May 9, a significant energy shortage again occurred in the Ukrainian energy system due to large-scale damage to power plants. Power limit schedules for businesses will be in effect tonight from 6:00 pm to 12:00 pm. Emergency shutdowns for consumers cannot be ruled out. Ukrainians were urged to reduce energy consumption.
Let us remind you that on May 8, Russia launched a massive air strike on Ukraine. In particular, cruise missiles hit a power generation facility in the Chervonograd district and critical energy infrastructure in the Stryi district of the Lviv region. In the Vinnytsia region, a critical infrastructure facility was also shelled, and a large fire broke out there.
