Representatives from the two countries plan to “jointly define a new cooperation and development plan to raise Sino-Hungarian relations to new heights.”
Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Hungary on a state visit – the first during his tenure. CGTN reported this on Thursday, May 9.
It was noted that Xi’s plane was accompanied by Hungarian fighters in the country’s airspace, and on the way from the Budapest airport to the hotel, “people greeted him warmly, waving the flags of China and Hungary.”
Xi’s visit to Hungary coincides with the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
In 1949, Hungary was one of the first to establish diplomatic relations with the newly proclaimed People’s Republic of China. And since 2017, the relations between the two countries have been upgraded to a comprehensive strategic partnership, one of the highest levels of interaction between China and other states.
Xi Jinping’s visit to Hungary will last two days, during which many events are planned, in particular meetings with President Tamás Sulek and Prime Minister Viktor Orban. According to the publication, the parties plan to “jointly define a new cooperation and development plan to raise Sino-Hungarian relations to new heights.”
It was earlier reported that Xi Jinping’s visit to Belgrade sparked unprecedented enthusiasm in Serbia.
