Ukraine’s allies need to speak openly about the initiative to attract as many countries as possible to the gathering. But in this way they also “revealed their cards” – and Russia took advantage of it.
Ukraine will receive the first batch of ammunition within the framework of the Czech initiative in June. Czech President Petr Pavel said this in an interview with ARD, published on Wednesday, May 8.
“My Prime Minister Petr Fiala and I expect that the first batch of almost 180,000 ammunition units will be delivered in June, and that additional contracts will be concluded for five to six numbers of ammunition,” said Pavel.
According to him, one of the reasons for the delay is the competition that has arisen due to the fact that many parties know about the Czech efforts to urgently find shells. Ukraine’s partners need to openly talk about the initiative to involve as many countries as possible in these efforts, Pavel explained, but in this way “they also reveal their cards” – and Russia took advantage of it.
The President of the Czech Republic admitted that Russia is stronger than Ukraine, and, despite the support of the West, the moment is approaching when the human resources of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the support of the Ukrainian population will further limit the efforts of Ukraine.
“In this situation – and I have been talking about this for a long time – it is important to support Ukraine in all possible ways so that it can explain to the Russian aggressor that there is no point in continuing the war, that Russia will not achieve any further military success Since today Russia has even a few then there is hope for victory, there is no reason for him to conduct peace negotiations, “said Peter Pavel.
We remind you that about 20 countries of the European Union and NATO have already joined the Czech initiative on shells for Ukraine. Funds were raised for about 500 thousand artillery pieces.
