The International Federation of the Red Cross does not respond not only to the crimes of the Russian Federation, but also to the participation of the Russian Red Cross in them, the ombudsman said.
The International Federation of the Red Cross takes an “ostrich position” on the issue of the crimes of the occupiers, as it does not express support for Ukraine and does not condemn the Russian Federation. This was said by the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights Dmitry Lubinets on the air of the national telethon The only news on Tuesday, May 7.
In his meeting today with the President of the International Federation of the Red Cross, he handed over documents about the crimes of the Russian Red Cross, violating the principles of neutrality, directly collecting aid for the Russian military, and the head of organization. from the Russian Federation is working with the so-called “chairman” of the camp Artek in the Crimea.
“Ukrainian children are illegally undergoing the so-called method of military training and re-education there, that is, the Russian Red Cross is directly involved in the process of illegally changing the identity of Ukrainian children,” the ombudsman was emphasized.
Lubinets provided documents indicating that the Russian Red Cross has been illegally using property owned by the Ukrainian Red Cross in Crimea since 2014.
“For all 10 years, the International Federation, which includes the Russian Red Cross, has taken the position of an ostrich. That is, they are just silent, they cannot express a position of support, and for some reason they do not can express a position of condemnation either,” the commissioner noted.
The Ombudsman explained that the International Federation of the Red Cross promised to look into all the facts. Lubinets hopes that this year a historic decision will be made for the first time: the exclusion of the Russian Red Cross from the International Federation of the Red Cross.
As you know, the media reported that employees of the Russian Red Cross illegally travel to the occupied territories and support the aggression against Ukraine and are involved in the abuse of captured Ukrainians.
Earlier, Dmitry Lubinets accused the International Federation of the Red Cross (IFRC) of “becoming a lawyer for Russian criminals.”
