The European Union is preparing the 14th package of sanctions against Russia, according to which restrictions will be introduced for the first time against Russian liquefied gas, although there are no bans on the import of Russian LNG into the EU.

This was reported by the Voice of America. At the same time, the bloc countries will be prohibited from further re-exporting this fuel to third countries.
The proposed package would also ban political parties, think tanks and media outlets in the EU from receiving funding from Russia and would add four media outlets, including the Viktor Medvedchuk-funded Voice of Europe, to the list of media banned in the EU.
Vessels transporting goods that support Russia’s military campaign in Ukraine will also be banned from using European ports.
In addition, it is reported that the liability of operators from EU countries for violation of sanctions will be strengthened.
The package talks about a ban on transshipment of Russian LNG in European ports, from where it is then sent around the world. The leaders here are Belgium and its port of Zeebrugge, but France and Spain are also among the largest recipients of Russian LNG.
In addition, sanctions will apply to the Russian LNG projects Arctic and Murmansk.
The Commission also wants to impose sanctions on several vessels of the so-called “shadow fleet” of the Russian Federation, which transport Russian oil despite EU restrictions. They will be prohibited from entering European ports.
Also, under the proposal, transport companies that are at least a quarter owned by Russians would be prohibited from operating in the EU.
