The EU called Gazprom’s actions a fraud

The Russian company greatly reduced gas supplies and refused to use the free capacity of other gas pipelines.

The European Union considers the reduction of Russia’s gas supplies to Europe as a “fraudulent move,” Reuters reported on Wednesday, June 22, citing a European Commission representative.

“Russia’s illegal invasion of Ukraine has created an emergency in the EU … Given the very deceptive actions we are seeing from the Putin administration regarding Gazprom’s cutting flows so severely, we are taking some very important steps , but all these measures are temporary, “he said, referring to the use of coal.

“EU targets for 2030 and 2050 remain completely unchanged … while we can temporarily increase coal use, the long-term direction is clear,” added Bardram, who is leading the climate talks of the European Commission in Paris in 2015.

Last week, Gazprom cut gas supplies through Nord Stream 1 by 60%. As a result, the price of gas in Europe exceeds $ 1,500 per thousand cubic meters.

The Turkish Stream gas pipeline also stopped operating for a week.

At the same time, Gazprom could use the free capacity of the Ukrainian GTS and the Yamal-Europe gas pipeline, but it does not, creating a gas crisis in Europe.
