The aggressor country must comply with international law and respect the territorial integrity of Ukraine, the organization stressed.
A just and lasting peace in Ukraine will come only when Russia withdraws its military from all Ukrainian populated areas. This was stated in a statement of the European Union, announced at a meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council in Vienna. Ukrinform wrote this on Thursday, May 2.
“We reiterate that the path to a comprehensive, just and lasting peace depends on the immediate, complete and unconditional withdrawal of the aggressor – Russia, with all its forces and military equipment from the entire territory of Ukraine in within internationally recognized borders and by respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine,” the statement said.
The EU assured that it will continue to support Ukraine “to ensure the broadest international support for a comprehensive, just and lasting peace, as well as the main principles and goals of the Ukrainian Peace Formula based on the UN Charter.”
The OSCE called on Moscow to comply with international law, release all hostages, and provide Ukrainian prisoners of war with protection and humane treatment.
“Accountability will be ensured, and justice will be restored for all victims of the Russian aggression,” the organization’s representatives emphasized.
Let’s recall that Russia has suspended participation in the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly. The State Duma and the Federation Council made the corresponding decision.
In July 2023, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly recognized Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism and Wagner PMC as a terrorist organization. The OSCE PA also approved a resolution on a special tribunal for Russia.
