Latvian Defense Minister Laurynas Kasciunas said the American military contingent would remain in the country indefinitely.
The American military battalion will remain in Lithuania indefinitely, and not until the end of 2025, as previously planned. This is what Lithuanian Defense Minister Laurynas Kasciunas said during a visit to the United States, Lithuanian media LRT reports.
He noted that the American side highly appreciates the conditions of military presence and training in Lithuania, which makes it possible to ensure adequate readiness of the forces for any scenario.
“During the meetings, I made it clear that the presence of the US in Lithuania is necessary, and together with NATO, the German brigade and national forces, it is the necessary combat power that can reliably deter Russia,” said the minister of Lithuanian.
According to him, the United States has accelerated the supply of Javelin anti-tank missiles to Lithuania and the weapons will arrive in May.
