However, Russia will have to take part in the next meetings. Bern has always been open to inviting Moscow to this summit. However, the Russians regularly blurted out their disinterest. This was stated by the Swiss Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The summit in Switzerland is intended to begin the peace process. Switzerland is convinced that Russia should be involved in this process. A peace process without Russia is unthinkable,” the department noted.
It is reported that more than 160 delegations from around the world were invited to the first summit.
The meeting will be based on discussions around the Ukrainian “peace formula” and other peace proposals. The purpose of the summit is to inspire the future peace process.
The summit plans to provide a platform for dialogue on ways to achieve lasting peace in Ukraine and promote a common understanding of a possible framework for achieving this goal. They also want to define a road map on how to involve both sides in a future peace process.
Let us recall that on April 2, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said that the first peace summit in Switzerland would take place on June 15-16 in Bürgenstock, near the city of Lucerne. This meeting will be a platform for discussing ways to achieve a comprehensive, just and lasting peace for Ukraine in accordance with the UN Charter and international law.
Heads of state and government from all continents are invited and expected to participate.
