The command of the Naval Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces commissioned two Estonian boats named “Irpen” – in honor of the Ukrainian hero and “Reni” – in honor of the city whose port is closest to Estonia. The Ukrainian Navy announced this on Facebook on Thursday, May 2.
It is indicated that now the naval flags of the Ukrainian Armed Forces are raised on these boats. In addition to military sailors, the ceremony led by the Commander of the Ukrainian Navy, Vice Admiral Alexey Neizhpapa, was attended by a delegation from Estonia led by the Commander of the Estonian Navy, Commodore Jüri Saska.
“At the end of the ceremony, the guests had the opportunity, during the passage at sea, to get acquainted with the arrangement of the boats, their performance and see the consequences of the enemy’s attack on the infrastructure of the port of Ukraine,” the message said. .
The Navy noted that the boats “Irpen” and “Reni” will carry out combat missions, including the protection of civilian shipping.
Let’s recall that on April 26, the Estonian Ministry of Defense announced the transfer of two patrol boats to Ukraine. This was done in connection with Denmark.
