Washington will respond to other countries’ attempts to strengthen Russia’s military-industrial potential.
The United States closely monitors the military cooperation of the Russian Federation with Iran and North Korea and will respond to the attempts of other countries to strengthen the military-industrial potential of the aggressor state. This was announced on Wednesday, May 1, by the Deputy Secretary of the US Department of Defense, Sabrina Singh, in a briefing at the Pentagon.
“We are concerned about the deepening ties between North Korea, Russia and Iran, which is emboldening the Russian Federation on the battlefield in Ukraine as it continues to wage an illegal war and kill many innocent Ukrainian civilians,” he said.
The Pentagon spokesman emphasized that the United States is not yet aware of any direct participation of North Korean citizens in the war.
“But we know for sure that the DPRK is ready to support Russia in its war against Ukraine, and it is one of the countries that supports Russia along with Iran,” he said.
Singh stressed that the United States is not only monitoring the situation, but also strengthening engagement with allies in the region.
He also noted that Washington continues to provide Ukraine with the funds it needs on the battlefield, and also imposes sanctions against those who help the Russian Federation in the war.
Let’s remember that last fall, the leader of the Republicans in the US Senate, Mitch McConnell, said that China, Russia and Iran are a new “axis of evil” that the United States “must face”.
