The corresponding notification was published today, May 1, by the department’s press service.
At the start of the Russian full-scale invasion, a military registration and enlistment officer was responsible for mobilizing vehicles, but selected the vehicles to be seized according to his “own taste,” the report said.
It is noted that in March 2022, with an armed escort, he came to a parking lot, which was actually outside the territorial jurisdiction of the military registration and enlistment office:
- the owners of the businesses that own the cars were not on site at that moment.
- The military registration and enlistment office official did not have established limits for the seizure of vehicles and relevant documents from local authorities regulating the mobilization of vehicles for these enterprises.
The defendant managed to confiscate only cars with violations, the keys to which were in the hands of the driver present in the parking lot. These are four trucks and a minibus with a total cost of almost 11 million UAH, the DBR notes.
The official is accused of exceeding power or official powers by a military official under martial law (Part 5 of Article 426-1 of the Criminal Code). The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of up to 12 years.
