Reuters suggests that the ammunition and weapons allocated by Washington will be sufficient until the end of 2025.
Ukraine received $61 billion in valuable military aid from the United States. However, Kyiv still needs a medium-term financing plan to counter Russian pressure. This was reported by Reuters on Monday, April 29.
The central place in terms of financing, according to the publication, should be the attraction of frozen assets of the Central Bank of Moscow to pay compensation for the damage caused by the war.
The publication suggests that the American aid package will provide Ukraine with weapons and ammunition until approximately the end of 2025. Therefore, during the same period, Ukraine may again run out of weapons.
“Even if Joe Biden is re-elected as US president this November, he may find it difficult to get Congress to allocate additional funds, And if Donald Trump returns to the White House, America’s support for Ukraine will be even more questionable, because the candidate from the Republicans has not yet shown readiness to defend Kyiv,” the material said.
The publication believes that Ukraine’s multi-year financing plan has several advantages. First of all, it would provide some insurance against changes in US politics. It would also boost Ukrainian morale and give Western arms manufacturers more confidence to ramp up production.
As we already wrote, the US Congress last week passed a law that allocated more than $60 billion to help Ukraine. Biden immediately announced a new military aid package to Ukraine. This includes weapons worth $1 billion.
As part of the package, the Ukrainian Armed Forces, in particular, will receive ATACMS long-range missiles. According to media reports, the United States has authorized Ukraine to attack targets in Crimea with ATACMS missiles.
