The Russians are conducting repeated air and missile strikes on civilians in Ukraine, just as they did in Syria.
Russian troops in Ukraine are repeating their own tactics in Syria, launching repeated air and missile strikes against civilians. Chargé d’Affaires of the US Mission to the OSCE Timothy Gunway said this at a meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council, Ukrinform reports.
“The Russian military has been conducting repeated airstrikes in Ukraine targeting civilians, including paramedics and first responders to help victims of the first strike. The Russian government will follow its own example in Syria, where it has carried out dozens of such airstrikes, killing civilians, emergency services workers and humanitarian workers,” he said.
In the OSCE Moscow Mechanism’s 2022 report, experts cited a “clear pattern of violations of international humanitarian law by Russian troops during combat operations,” he said.
Separately, repeated attacks on the civilian population are considered, in particular, the Caliber strike on March 1, 2022 on Freedom Square in front of the Kharkov Regional State Administration. In particular, 5-7 minutes after the arrival of the rescuers there was a second strike from a similar missile that hit the building. Because of this, the rescuers and those injured in the first attack were deliberately targeted, the lawyer said.
He added that evidence has emerged that the aggressor country killed more than 90 medical workers, police officers and firefighters and injured about 350 civilians across Ukraine using these tactics.
Gunvey stressed that violations of international humanitarian law by the occupiers should not go unpunished. He added that Russia’s campaign against the civilian population of Ukraine must be suspended.
As we wrote earlier, three loud explosions were heard in Chernigov. Later, information emerged that the Russians could attack the city with Iskander cruise missiles.
