This was reported by the Donetsk regional prosecutor’s office.
The SBU suspects that the metropolitan, during the liturgy filmed on video, “voiced the location of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ checkpoints in the Kramatorsk district of the Donetsk region.”
Thus, the cleric tried to covertly leak to the aggressor the locations of Ukrainian checkpoints in the front-line area, the SBU believes.
What is known about Arseny
In 2014-2015, the Lavra in which he served secretly supported the militants of the so-called DPR.
In 2018, Arseniy said that Ukraine, not Russia, started the war. He characterized the war as a “civil conflict.”
In 2020, the “people of the world” forum was held at the Svyatogorsk Lavra, where Arseny was the governor. The forum, according to the plan of the UOC-MP, was to “reconcile the warring parties.”
In 2019, journalists visited church stores at the Lavra and saw anti-vaccination literature, brochures against other Ukrainian churches and the Ukrainian language. That same year, Metropolitan Arseny ignored quarantine restrictions during services.
On Easter night, hundreds of believers came to the Lavra, some of whom did not have protective masks. In this regard, the police began an investigation due to violations of sanitary regulations.
It is also alleged that he expressed pro-Kremlin narratives even before the Russian invasion.
