Due to App Store requirements, the messenger will introduce restrictions on some propaganda and news channels in Ukraine.
Telegram owner Pavel Durov said on Wednesday, April 24, that he will be forced to block some channels in Ukraine at the request of the App Store.
We are talking about some propaganda and news channels in Ukraine.
He recalled that in February 2022, the idea was proposed to limit some Telegram channels in Russia and Ukraine due to their use for military propaganda.
However, users from both countries opposed these restrictions, considering freedom of access to information as a priority. The creator of Telegram supported the choice of users in free access to information.
Despite this, Durov noted that Telegram has received official letters from Apple regarding the need for changes in the way the platform works for users who access it through iPhones with Ukrainian SIM cards.
Durov also noted that Telegram continues to block accounts and bots that collect coordinates for targeted attacks or publish personal information with calls for violence. He encouraged users to report such channels.
In the past, Durov has denied accusations that Telegram is controlled by Russian authorities.
