German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said on April 24 that he had not changed his decision to transfer Taurus long-range missiles to Ukraine.

The head of government said this during a press conference with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
“As far as this weapon system is concerned, my decision remains unchanged,” said the Chancellor.
He stressed that his decision was “very clear” and recalled that NATO countries should not become a party to the conflict.
According to him, Germany has allocated more than 28 billion euros to Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia. In particular, Scholz mentioned the transfer of tanks and air defense equipment.
We will support Ukraine in every way so that it can resist Russian aggression,” said the German Chancellor.
Scholz stressed that Germany and Britain will continue to closely cooperate on the issue of training the Ukrainian military and strengthening the military industry of Ukraine.
Germany refuses to supply Taurus to Ukraine, since their range of up to 500 km theoretically allows the Ukrainian military to hit targets on Russian territory, in particular in Moscow.
Congressional approval of new aid package for Ukraine is an encouraging and important signal […] Putin is wrong to expect that Europe and the United States will eventually abandon Ukraine. No, we will not do that,” Scholz promised on Wednesday, hours after the US Senate gave final approval to the multibillion-dollar bill.
Scholz has repeatedly opposed the provision of Swedish-German Taurus missiles to Ukraine. In his opinion, their “misuse” could supposedly drag Germany into a war with Russia.
