The State Executive Service of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine seized the property and accounts of the former Chairman of the Supreme Court Vsevolod Knyazev. This was announced by the Deputy Minister of Justice for the Executive Service Andrei Gaichenko on Wednesday, April 24, the press service of the ministry reports.
The property and accounts were seized due to Knyazev’s failure to comply with the Pechersky District Court’s decision to confiscate to the state an illegally received gift worth UAH 906,600.
The Ministry of Justice reported that on December 13, 2023, the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption made a protocol against the former head of the Armed Forces on an administrative offense for violating legal restrictions on receiving gift
According to the NAPC, Vsevolod Knyazev received a gift in the form of renting an apartment in the Pechersky (Lipki) district of Kiev measuring 133 square meters. m. Based on a real estate lease agreement concluded at the end of 2017, the judge leased an apartment for living with a monthly payment of 1 thousand UAH. The difference between the actual and market value of the rent is this illegal gift, the report said.
It is reported that four units of real estate in Nikolaev and the Nikolaev region are registered in the name of the debtor with the right of ownership.
“In the event of a lack of funds in the debtor’s accounts, and in the event of the identification of movable and immovable property legally owned by the debtor, the state executive will make measures to foreclose the discovered property of the debtor, which is legally possible to foreclose,” said Gaichenko.
Let’s recall that on May 15, 2023, NABU detectives detained the Chairman of the Supreme Court, Vsevolod Knyazev, for a bribe of $2.7 million. Law enforcement took part of the money from his home, and part from his office. The money was given to the judges allegedly for a decision in favor of businessman Konstantin Zhevago. On May 18, Knyazev was arrested, and at the end of January 2024 he was released from custody.
