The motion of the leader of the Democratic majority in the Senate, Chuck Schumer, “to end the debate” was supported, which makes it possible to approve the adoption of a legislative package on the aid of Ukraine through an abbreviated procedure.
The US Senate held a procedural vote on aid to Ukraine, as evidenced by a live broadcast from the meeting.
More than 60 senators supported Senate Democratic Majority Leader Chuck Schumer’s motion to “end debate,” allowing the adoption of a legislative package with aid from Ukraine through an abbreviated procedure.
Before that, Republican Senator Mike Lee introduced an amendment that could have delayed consideration of the bill, but it was rejected by the majority.
“Ukrainians, our help is coming to you, and Ukraine will receive more than it needs in ammunition, equipment and air defense equipment,” said the leader of the Democratic majority in the Senate.
As noted in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, this decision will allow for rapid discussion of the bill within 30 hours with limited time for each senator.
The final vote is planned for later on Tuesday or tomorrow, writes Radio Liberty.
It was previously reported that the United States was preparing weapons for Ukraine worth $1 billion.
