Most of the new aid packages from the United States are already at the border of Ukraine, the media wrote.

This week, some of Ukraine’s allies announced powerful military aid packages for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Their main task is to strengthen the protection of the Ukrainian sky and the ability of our military to blunt a major Russian offensive, which, according to intelligence officials, is expected at the end of May – beginning of June. Who and what exactly will be transferred to Ukraine is beyond the story.

USA

On April 20, the US House of Representatives voted for a relief bill for Ukraine in the amount of more than $60 billion. The document must also be supported by the Senate (voting will take place on April 23), and then it must be signed by President Joe Biden. He promised to do it as soon as possible. It is known that this package will include ATACMS long-range missiles.

In addition, as Politico notes, the Pentagon is now working on another package. As journalists write, it will be larger than the last tranche of $300 million.

According to the publication, the aid includes Bradley Fighting Vehicles, old Hummers and M113 armored personnel carriers, as well as missiles.

In turn, Reuters clarified, citing two American officials, that the cost of this aid will be one billion dollars.

“The package includes vehicles, Stinger air defense ammunition, additional HIMARS ammunition, 155mm artillery ammunition, TOW and Javelin anti-tank ammunition and other weapons that can be used immediately on the battlefield,” the statement said.

Also, according to CNN, the United States has previously transferred some of the weapons from this aid package to Ukraine to European countries. Currently, most of the weapons are said to be located near the borders of Ukraine, in warehouses in Germany and Poland. This should reduce the amount of time needed to deliver weapons. It is expected that the artillery shells will be among the first to be transferred to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Britain

The Kingdom is allocating the largest military aid package in the history of Ukraine, worth $617 million. The British government website reports that Prime Minister Rishi Sunak will make the announcement today during a visit to Poland. The package contains:

  • 60 boats, including raiding and diving boats and naval guns;

  • Over 1,600 strike and anti-air missiles and additional Storm Shadows;

  • More than 400 units. equipment, including 160 Husky infantry fighting vehicles, 162 armored vehicles and 78 all-terrain vehicles;

  • About 4 million small arms ammunition.

In a joint press conference with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, Sunak said that the British government intends to move the country’s defense industrial complex to military mode. In turn, London will allocate an additional $12.4 billion for ammunition production.

Lithuania

The country today, April 23, announced the transfer of a batch of M577 command and staff armored vehicles to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The exact number of vehicles was not reported.

The department recalled that this year they have already provided aid to Ukraine in the amount of 84 million euros and pursues the goal of maintaining this momentum. In addition, on Saturday, Lithuania transferred L-39ZA Albatros light combat aircraft to Ukraine.

Sweden

The country’s Defense Minister Paul Johnson said today that “right now” they are delivering air defense systems and shells to Ukraine. The weapons came as part of an aid package of around 650 million euros.

Jonson also noted that Sweden does not exclude the possibility of providing Ukraine with its Patriot systems and RBS 70 air defense systems. However, now, according to him, the country is committed to financial support for the initiative of German to supply these systems to Ukraine.

“Right now we’re focused on the financial contribution and maybe also the RBS 70 because that might reduce some of the pressure on the Patriots’ systems,” the Defense Secretary said.

Germany

The country’s government is now putting pressure on the United States to force it to supply Ukraine with at least one Patriot system, Bloomberg writes. So, Berlin wants to help Kyiv close the air defense gap.

It is also reported that Germany will also continue to press European allies this week, including France and Italy, to assess what they are capable of.

Journalists note that for the German military, three Patriot air defense systems will make up a quarter of their arsenal – a larger share than the United States. Other equipment offered by Berlin is the Samp/T surface-to-air system, NASAMS and Hawk missiles, Iris-T system, as well as parts and funds to support these efforts.

Greece

Greece will be able to transfer the Patriot air defense system to Ukraine under a “guarantee” from the United States, writes Pronews. Thus, Athens will transfer to Kyiv a battery of Patriot Pac 3, which can shoot ballistic targets.

For the conditions, these are security guarantees or financial compensation from Washington, which will be valid for the entire term of the “lease” of the system.

Pronews added that Greece will transfer only one battery to Ukraine, but Kyiv will receive another. The publication says that such a decision is likely to cause controversy within the country.
