The fighters, as Danish Prime Minister Matte Frederiksen promised Ukraine in February, will be delivered this summer.
Ukraine will definitely receive F-16 fighters from Denmark this summer. This is what the Ambassador of Denmark to Ukraine Ole Egberg Mikkelsen said in an interview with We are Ukraine.
“Don’t worry there will definitely be planes for Ukraine,” said the diplomat.
The ambassador clarified that the 24 aircraft sold by Denmark to Argentina are not among those that Denmark should transfer to Ukraine.
“This is our entire fleet of F-16s that are now being retired because we are getting a new generation of F-35 aircraft. Some will be delivered to Argentina. There is nothing to worry about. The F-16s will be delivered as promised,” Mikkelsen said.
The Danish Ambassador to Ukraine emphasized that the fighters, as promised by the Danish Prime Minister Matte Frederiksen in February, will be delivered this summer.
Mikkelsen struggled to name the exact number of F-16s Ukraine will receive in the summer, but noted that this is the number agreed upon by the Danish Prime Minister and President Vladimir Zelensky.
We remind you that Denmark previously sold 24 F-16 fighters to Argentina. The Danish Air Force is gradually replacing the F-16 fighter with the more modern F-35.
It is known from open sources that Denmark has 44 F-16 fighters at its disposal. At the same time, he promised 19 aircraft to Ukraine.
