In particular, the occupiers continued, and in some areas intensified, ongoing offensive operations, likely taking advantage of abnormally dry spring conditions and shortages of Ukrainian equipment until the arrival of promised Western security assistance. The enemy also tried to use the Ukrainian lack of air defense systems in an attempt to destroy the Ukrainian energy system and damage the Ukrainian defense industry. This is stated in the report of the American Institute for the Study of War.
ISW believes that the Russians may become more active after the US authorities approve the provision of new military assistance to Ukraine. Therefore, invaders can increase attacks with missiles and drones and intensify assaults on the front.
The enemy could still make significant operational gains in the coming weeks, analysts say. And the Russian command may give priority to sectors of the front where the defense of the Ukrainian Armed Forces looks relatively unstable, especially to the west of Avdeevka, or areas where Russian troops are within reach of an operationally significant facility, for example, at Vremney Yar.
In addition, according to the Institute for the Study of War, an aggressor could attack Ukrainian transport infrastructure to limit Ukraine’s ability to distribute manpower and equipment on critical sectors of the front.
It is possible that the Russian army may also bomb Ukrainian defensive positions.
Let us recall that earlier experts from the American Institute for the Study of War stated that Israel’s success in repelling an Iranian attack on Saturday night underlines Ukraine’s vulnerability to attacks from Russian missiles and drones.
