As stated in the Voice of America broadcast from the US Congress
- an amendment by Congresswoman Victoria Spartz, who proposed to exclude four provisions from the bill, in particular those related to the PDA program, which allows the White House to allocate weapons to Ukraine directly from the US army.
- Congresswoman Kat Cammack’s amendment proposed canceling all non-military funding related to Ukraine.
- Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene’s amendment, which proposed that “every dollar amount in this legislation be reduced to zero.”
Congressman Kevin Gern of Oklahoma himself withdrew his Fourth Amendment, which proposed banning the use of Economic Support Fund funds to pay pensions.
Rakurs wrote that the US House of Representatives plans to vote on aid to Ukraine on April 20. The House of Representatives will vote on international aid, particularly for Ukraine. Exactly six months after the White House submitted its request.
Previous votes indicate that there should have been enough votes to support Ukraine.
The Senate announced that they would remain working over the weekend so that if the aid is approved in the House of Representatives, they would not hesitate to vote on their part and pass the document for signature by President Joe Biden.
Biden himself said earlier that he supports Speaker Johnson’s initiative, and as soon as the adopted bill reaches his desk, he will immediately sign it.
The Pentagon also hopes for a speedy vote.
If assistance is approved this weekend, they are preparing to quickly send Kyiv a package of weapons from their own warehouses, which may include air defense and artillery systems. Help will be delivered in a matter of days.
