The calculated damage will be the basis for recovery from Russia of all damage caused to Ukraine’s environment.
Almost 1 billion hryvnias were lost due to Russia’s shelling of the territory of the Kurakhovskaya Thermal Power Plant. This was reported by Donetsk OVA on Saturday, April 20.
It is indicated that the State Environmental Inspectorate in the Donetsk region has carried out calculations of the amount of damage caused by the contamination of the soil resources of the Kurakhovskaya Thermal Power Plant as a result of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation.
“The amount of damage caused to land resources on the territory of the Kurakhovskaya Thermal Power Plant is more than 986 million hryvnias,” the statement said.
The inspection also carried out 10 damage calculations for air pollution. It is worth more than 1 million hryvnia.
In addition, 14 cases of contamination of the lands of the Kurakhovo thermal power plant with oil products and waste from the destruction as a result of the ongoing Russian attack on the city of Kurakhovo were recorded.
“The calculated damage should continue to be the basis for recovery from the aggressor country of all damage caused to the environment of Ukraine,” OVA said.
We remind you that as of January 2024, environmental damage due to the war in Ukraine is estimated at 2.2 trillion hryvnias. These data were announced by the Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Ruslan Strelets.
