The Russian military aircraft is a legitimate target for Ukraine, because the Ukrainian state is defending itself, Jens Stoltenberg said.
Ukraine has the right to strike military targets outside its territory in self-defense. Russian military aircraft are included in this list. This is what NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said at a press conference after the meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Council on April 19.
He commented this way on the message about the crash of the Russian Tu-22M3.
Stoltenberg recalled that we are talking about a war of aggression, where Russia is attacking its neighbor, Ukraine.
“Ukraine has the right to self-defense, and this includes, among other things, attacks on legitimate military targets outside of Ukraine. Therefore, the downing of Russian aircraft used in attacking Ukraine is an important part of Ukraine’s right to self-defense,” concluded the NATO Secretary General.
We remind you that Russian war criminals have carried out another massive attack with missiles and drones against Ukraine. One of the Tu-22M3 bombers was shot down and crashed near Stavropol.
It is also known that at least one crew member was killed.
