The price of grain will increase a little, because by the end of May Ukraine will be able to export almost all of its surplus, UZA said.
By the end of May, Ukraine will be able to export all remaining grain from the 2023 harvest, which will lead to higher prices on both domestic and global markets. This was said by the President of the Ukrainian Grain Association Nikolai Gorbachev at the Black Sea Grain conference in Kyiv on April 18, reports Interfax-Ukraine.
“Our forecast is that the price will increase a little at the end of the season the price will increase a little, because by the end of May Ukraine will have exported almost all of its balance will be almost nothing in June The world price will increase a little In Europe, the harvest will be slightly better for our agricultural producers.
Gorbachev hoped that the logistics sector, especially the work of the ports of Greater Odessa, would be better. This will allow Ukrainian farmers in 2025 to focus not only on profitable crops, which are not profitable for them at this time, but also increase production in all sectors of the agro-industrial complex.
The head of UZA also noted that among the difficulties that export companies will face in the 2024 season is that France and Poland will oppose the access of Ukrainian grain to the European market.
According to Gorbachev, these two states will lobby for the introduction of legislative and sanitary restrictions that interfere with Ukrainian business. However, it encourages Ukrainian agricultural business to look for new markets.
Let’s recall that Ukraine exported 34.86 million tons of grain and legumes in the 2023/2024 marketing year (from July 1, 2023 to April 1, 2024).
Vehicle traffic with grain cargo was re-directed from the western borders in the direction of the seaports of Greater Odessa. At the same time, the volume of grain cargo transfers across borders with all neighboring countries without exception – Hungary, Slovakia, Poland, Romania – has decreased.
