Ukraine is among the countries with the lowest level of fear of the nuclear threat. This is confirmed by the results of an international survey by the Gallup International research institute, conducted at the end of 2023, the report of the sociological group Rating, which is responsible for conducting this study in Ukraine.
In general, over the years there has been no significant reduction in fears from the nuclear threat to the world. Two-fifths of those surveyed now see a high risk of the use of nuclear weapons. About the same proportion assess moderate risk and only 14% perceive no risk.
In European countries, fewer respondents rated the threat of using nuclear weapons higher than in countries in Asia, Africa and South America, where nuclear threat assessments are more pessimistic.
In Europe, countries such as Italy, Portugal, and Romania fear the nuclear threat the most. In the world – Indonesia, Nigeria, Ecuador, Syria, Argentina.
In Ukraine, Iran, Pakistan and Armenia, the highest percentage of respondents said there is no such risk.
In terms of age, the young group of respondents is the most pessimistic about the nuclear threat.
A total of 40,000 428 people were surveyed in 41 countries of the world – almost 1000 in each country.
