In Romania, the Military Prosecutor’s Office began an investigation into the circumstances of the flight of unidentified drones at the military base of the Romanian Air Force named Mihail Kogelnichan, located near the city of Constanta. Radio Liberty reported this on Tuesday, April 16.
“On Tuesday evening, between 10:30 pm and 12:30 am, personnel from the 57th Air Force Base reported the flight of three drones. The identified drones were small, likely commercial in type, and flying at low speed and low altitude,” the report said.
It was reported that all measures were taken to ensure the safety of the airspace, and that the civil air traffic control authorities were immediately informed of the situation.
The spokesman of the Romanian Ministry of Defense, Constantin Spinu, clarified that the drones were silenced so that they would not pose a risk to a military facility.
In connection with the incident, the command of the 57th Air Base contacted the Military Prosecutor’s Office, and the military unit began an internal investigation.
