Lithuanian customs are already deploying vehicles on the Belarus-Lithuanian border at the Medininkai checkpoint. Today many cargoes from the main part of Russia to Kaliningrad can only be carried by sea.

Lithuania has extended restrictions on the transportation of sanctioned goods in the Kaliningrad region not only by rail, but also by road freight transit. This was reported by Interfax.ru.

The regional government clarified that now a lot of cargo from the main part of Russia to Kaliningrad can only be carried by sea. We are talking about a large list of goods that are subject to sanctions in Europe (including building materials, cement, metal, fertilizer).

It was reported that Lithuanian customs were already dispersing vehicles on the Belarus-Lithuanian border at the Medininkai checkpoint. This resulted in a long queue.

Earlier it was reported that Lithuania intends to block the transit of almost half of the goods by rail to the Kaliningrad region of the Russian Federation.

The Russian Federation called the blockade of Kaliningrad “a shameless trick of Vilnius.”
