Royal Air Force jets shot down “several” attack drones during Iran’s massive missile attack on Israel, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said on Twitter (X).

Sunak called Iran’s attack on Israel a “dangerous and unnecessary escalation” which he said he condemned “in the strongest possible terms”.

“I can confirm that our aircraft shot down several Iranian attack drones,” the British prime minister said.

According to him, if the Iranian attack is successful, “the consequences for the stability of the region will be difficult to overestimate.”

In turn, British Defense Minister Grant Shapps thanked the country’s armed forces “for quickly and effectively responding to such a serious threat.”

According to him, all British aircraft successfully returned to base.
