German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said this on Friday, April 12, in an interview with the Tageszeitung.
“We need to supply arms and ammunition to Ukraine for a long time. To prevent Putin from winning this war is a lot, as we know now,” said the German chancellor.
He emphasized that he combines his unwavering support for Ukraine with policies that prevent the escalation of war between Russia and NATO.
The German Chancellor also said that his contacts with Russian President Vladimir Putin can only take place after he “understands that he has to abandon his campaign and withdraw his troops.” In his opinion, dialogue is useful “when you think that you can change the situation.”
We remind you that Germany will give 576 million euros to the initiative of the Czech Republic to buy artillery ammunition for Ukraine, which will cover the cost of 180 thousand shells.
Note that Germany is increasing its stockpile of weapons. The German government plans to sign several large contracts for the purchase of weapons in the near future.
