The major general said that he remains in the army family. In the future he will train young officers. He also thanked the military personnel for their two and a half years of service. He published a corresponding statement on April 12 on Facebook.
Kovalchuk recalled that together they liberated Snake Island and the lion’s share of the territorial sea of Ukraine, parts of the Nikolaev and Kherson regions on the right bank of the Dnieper from the occupiers.
We carried out combat missions, repelling a daring enemy landing, repelling and sinking enemy ships, creating unprecedented historical facts in the newest era of our Armed Forces, the message says.
The Ukrainian general added that the education of officers will include honor, decency, patriotism, responsibility, courage and prudence. After all, it is precisely thanks to this, according to him, that a real commander grows, capable of being a role model and educating his combat team by his own example.
However, Kovalchuk did not specify what position he was being transferred to.
Let us recall that on April 9, people’s deputy Alexei Goncharenko announced that a decision had been made to dismiss the commander of the operational command “South” Andrei Kovalchuk and the commander of the operational command “West” Sergei Litvinov.
