The Tajik Foreign Ministry states that Russian security forces must adhere to the norms and principles of international law.
The Foreign Minister of Tajikistan, Sirojiddin Mukhriddin, condemned the use of torture against citizens of his country who were detained on suspicion of carrying out terrorist attacks in the Moscow region. This was reported by Asia-Plus.
An official told a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the CIS in Minsk that the Russian security forces must comply with the norms and principles of international law, especially in the matter of the presumption of innocence, the prohibition of torture and poor treatment.
“The demonstration in the open space of information footage of the detention of possible perpetrators of a terrorist act with the use of torture due to their mutilation is unacceptable. The price of confessions obtained in this way is known of all,” the official emphasized.
He also stressed that it could also create a negative perception of the citizens of Tajikistan and the Tajik people.
As you know, the terrorist attack on the Crocus City Hall near Moscow took place on March 22. At least 144 people became its victims. The attackers shot some of the people, most died in the fire. The Islamic State group claimed responsibility for the attack.
