This was stated on April 11 by the commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Yuriy Sodol, in the Verkhovna Rada before voting for the law on strengthening mobilization.
The enemy is 7-10 times larger than us, we have a shortage of personnel. In some departments we have two people left, in some – three or four people, whereas according to the regulations there should be 8-10 of them. According to tactical standards, this squad must be guaranteed to defend 100 meters of the front. If there are two, they can protect 20 meters of front, he said.
This situation leads to the fact that a brigade, which must defend up to 15 km of front, with such strength can only hold five, and sometimes less, kilometers.
Therefore, instead of one brigade, we are forced to deploy three. And these two brigades could be in the rear zone, where the personnel could rest, be re-equipped, receive weapons, undergo normal training in order to replace the brigade or create a strike force. Therefore, I really ask you to pass this law, we really need it. “We are holding the defense with all our strength,” Sodol urged.
Let us remind you that the Verkhovna Rada adopted a law on strengthening mobilization, and also instructed the government to pay the military additionally 70 thousand UAH.
