After the war, 45% of Ukrainians would entrust power to a political force that could come from the military.
This is evidenced by a new survey from the Razumkov Center. 21.5% of respondents believe that such a political force could consist of volunteers, 20% – from the circle of humanitarian/technical intelligentsia.
Another 19% would entrust power to people from civil society, 18% from existing parties and 6% from the business environment.
When asked how events are developing in Ukraine, 37.7% answered in the right direction. Misdirection was reported by 38.7%.
Back in January 2024, the balance was positive (+2%), but now it has crossed the limit and amounted to (-1%). This happened for the first time since the beginning of the war.
Only 22% of Ukrainians have a positive attitude towards the idea of holding national elections (presidential or parliamentary) in Ukraine to end the war. Although in September 2023 such citizens were 15%.
59.5% of respondents have a negative attitude towards this idea. In September last year, the share of such Ukrainians was 64%.
To a large extent, support for the idea of holding elections before the end of the war depends on the level of trust in the current government, sociologists noted.
In particular, among those who trust the President of Ukraine, only 15% would support such elections.
At the same time, among those who do not trust Vladimir Zelensky, such Ukrainians make up 37%. Although even among those who do not trust the president, a relative majority – 45% – do not support the idea of such elections. Among those who trust, 68% do.
The negative attitude towards elections during the war is due to the fact that a relative majority, that is, 45% of citizens, believes that such a vote would divide Ukrainian society. Only 12% of Ukrainians believe that elections during the war will unite society. In September–October 2023, the first respondents were 40%, the second – 9%.
In addition, a relative majority of citizens – 42% believe that a change of government during the war will hinder victory in the war with Russia. Only 13% hold the opposite opinion. In September – October 2023 – 51% and 13%, respectively.
