Stubb stressed that Kyiv’s support in the coming months is most important because Russian dictator Vladimir Putin “feels very confident.”
Finnish President Alexander Stubb warned other NATO leaders to tone down their anti-Russian rhetoric and instead prepare their armies for a potential conflict. The Financial Times reported this.
He says recent public warnings about Russian aggression outside Ukraine are distracting European countries from what they should really be focusing on: immediate aid to Kyiv and training their armed forces – although he doesn’t believe that Moscow will attack NATO countries before 2030 of the year.
“I’m a little worried about this rather provocative talk that Russia will test the fortress of Article 5, and Europe will be next in line. I think we should prepare for that, but I think it’s probably not,” Stubb said.
He stressed that Kyiv’s support in the coming months is crucial because Russian dictator Vladimir Putin “feels overconfident” and is targeting a “window of opportunity” to breach the country’s defenses. Ukraine between now and September.
Stubb has previously said that Finland sees no reason to send its troops to Ukraine, but continues to provide military support.
According to him, the 23rd package of military aid to Ukraine contains air defense equipment, as well as large-caliber artillery ammunition.
