He made this statement in an interview with the Axel Springer newspaper, Politico writes.
Zelensky noted that he is ready to listen to Trump’s proposals, but “if they consist in the fact that we simply give away our territories, then they are very primitive.”
According to Zelensky, he needs not a “fantastic” but a “real” idea that would put an end to the war, “with people’s lives at stake.”
The President of Ukraine also said that he privately, through intermediaries, offered Trump to visit the country and that he expressed interest, but it did not come to specific agreements on the trip.
Trump has repeatedly stated that if elected president, he would end the war in Ukraine within 24 hours. At the same time, he noted that Ukraine would have to give up all or part of the occupied territories.
In early February 2024, Bloomberg, citing sources, wrote that Trump’s plan, if elected president, is to simultaneously put pressure on both Russia and Ukraine.
According to the agency, Trump plans to threaten Kyiv, if it refuses negotiations, by stopping arms supplies to Ukraine, and Moscow, on the contrary, by increasing these supplies, as well as by strengthening sanctions against the Russian Central Bank.
Zelensky has previously repeatedly ruled out the possibility of any cession of territories to Russia for ending the war.
