Belarus’s army has about 60 thousand people, but Lukashenka’s authorities want to add another 20 thousand, according to the Ukrainian Defense Ministry.
There are up to seven Belarusian battalions on the border between Belarus and Ukraine. This was announced by the spokesman of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Oleksandr Motuzyanyk on the air of the national telethon.
“There are now up to seven Belarusian battalions on the border in the Brest and Gomel regions. It is approximately 3.5-4 thousand personnel. But you have to understand that there are also Russian troops there. I will not say their number, but there are a number of communities where they are stationed ”, the spokesperson said.
According to Alyaksandr Motuzyanyk, the entire army of Belarus has about 60 thousand people, but Lukashenka’s authorities want to add another 20 thousand to it. The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine does not rule out that the Russians could quickly transfer additional reserves to the territory of Belarus.
“So far, we have not seen it. But Russia’s actions, including the Belarusian army, are forcing us to keep the troops there. This is a Russian tactic so far. Our units,” added the speaker.
As the representative of the Ministry of Defense said, in this way the Russian Federation is forcing Ukraine to keep troops there.
“We understand very well that once we remove our units from there, they can conduct a second offensive. In the short term, we do not see it, but, nevertheless, we are forced to strengthen this direction,” Motuzyanyk said.
Earlier it was reported that Ukraine does not see a threat from Belarus, because Minsk does not have sufficient forces for the attack.
But Ukraine did not exclude a second invasion of the Russian Federation from the territory of Belarus.
