The meeting was held behind closed doors, the court took the Kosovo suspect into custody for two months, Watchers reports.
According to the investigation, on April 7, at the upper station of the capital’s funicular, a conflict arose between Kosovo (an employee of the State Security Administration of Ukraine) and a group of guys. Kosov pushed 16-year-old Maxim. The guy hit his head on the window glass, broke it and received injuries from which he died before doctors arrived.
Relatives and friends of Kosovo came to the hearings. They expressed dissatisfaction with the attention of the press to the case. Among themselves, they called media workers “jackals.”
The victim’s representative, Alexander Panchenko, told Watchers that, according to witnesses, Kosov was intoxicated during the incident, and “the guy died not because he did something bad, but because of unlawful actions.”
According to him, the guys, among whom was the deceased, tried to avoid conflict.
According to witnesses he [підозрюваний] was intoxicated. It’s hard for me to say how much. There was something he didn’t like about the guys’ actions. He began to communicate poorly. The guys tried to avoid conflict. The suspect left, but then remembered something and returned. The deceased Maxim was closest to him. The suspect began to address him and push him. As a result, the latter fell and received bodily injuries resulting in death. This happened at the exit (upper station of the funicular), he said.
Panchenko added: the relatives of the deceased Maxim are in a serious emotional state.
I don’t know if he apologized. I don’t know if they tried to reach out to the family. I spoke with dad Maxim today. He is now in such a state that he can more or less communicate. I asked his position regarding the precautionary measures for the suspect. And this is no alternative to detention,” Panchenko said.
According to the victims’ representative, the defense did not provide the court with documents indicating that the suspect is a military serviceman. He, as Panchenko said, is an employee of the Civil Defense Service.
The relatives are in very serious condition. They are dealing with the funeral issue now. That’s why I insisted that only I be at the meeting today,” he added.
