There are still lawmakers in Congress who disagree with the level of aid spending in Ukraine, although the majority support the Ukrainians.
The House of Representatives will vote on the Ukraine aid package in the next few weeks. US Senator from the Republican Party Johnny Ernst said this on Monday, April 8, during a visit to Kyiv, Radio Liberty reports.
According to him, many changes will be made to the document.
“Once the House passes these changes, the bill will go back to the Senate. Hopefully this will happen in the next few weeks, and the senators will work hard to make sure it passes,” Ernst promised.
Asked about amendments to the bill proposed by Speaker Mike Johnson, he said “such a proposal could work.”
Ernst recalled that in February 2024 he was among the senators who supported the aid package for Ukraine.
“I am proud to support Ukraine, and I believe that this additional aid package is very important,” the senator emphasized.
As we have already written, the US Congress has again postponed the vote on the Ukraine aid bill. The House of Representatives likely won’t take up this issue until mid-April, and it may not happen until later.
Recently, there have been increasing proposals that the United States may provide credit assistance to Ukraine. This is exactly the view expressed by former President Donald Trump.
