The formal leader of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, signed the law amending the laws on national security issues, allowing citizens to be notified of their appearance at the military registration and conscription office for military service via SMS. The Zerkalo publication reported this on Saturday, April 6.

It is indicated that this law includes many important changes in military service and mobilization in Belarus. Now young people start registering for military service not at 16, but at 17 years old.

It will be possible to summon citizens to the military registration and enlistment office, including the period of mobilization, not only by paper summons, but also by SMS message. And the paper summons can be given to a conscript not only at home, but anywhere.

The law also adds liability for evasion of military recruitment measures and for failure to appear at the military registration and enlistment office. For avoiding the army, you can get not two, but three years in prison. And the fines will increase many times.

Military commissars will have the right to restrict the departure from Belarus of citizens who “violate the obligations of military registration and evade the measures of conscription for military service” – this now applies to those who evade not only in military service and reserve service, but also in those who avoid, for example, military and special pay.

In addition, it is possible to recruit for military service under a contract people of all ages, people under investigation, people with an outstanding criminal record, prisoners from colonies – such a decision can be done by Lukashenko if necessary to “ensure the interests of defense and national security.”

The list of other changes is quite long: the age of being in the reserves for private women liable for military service is raised, the list of citizens entitled to a postponement during mobilization changes, the reinforcement units will be made to military registration and enlistment offices, etc.

Almost all provisions of the law will take effect on April 7.

Let’s remember that this week Alexander Lukashenko openly admitted that he is preparing Belarus for war.
