Russia is establishing greater control over companies in strategic industries.

Since the beginning of the mass invasion of Ukraine, Russia has established control over 180 companies with a total value of approximately 11.5 billion dollars. About this on April 5 reported press service of the British Ministry of Defense, citing intelligence data.

It was noted that priority is given to companies owned by foreigners, particularly Russians living abroad.

British intelligence explains the actual seizure of companies by the fact that the Kremlin wants to reduce foreign, especially Western, ties to the Russian economy.

At the same time, the Russian Federation is establishing more control over companies in “strategic” industries such as the defense industry. Moscow is redistributing assets to Kremlin-linked businessmen who are supporting the war in Ukraine.

“This deprivatization is likely related to Putin’s call in his February 2024 address to a new nationalist elite that has formed as a result of the war in Ukraine,” said British intelligence.

We remind you that the sanctioned Russian billionaires Pyotr Aven and Mikhail Fridman called their billion-dollar investments in European countries a mistake.

It has been reported that in 2024 there will be a record increase in dollar billionaires in Russia. The total wealth of Russian billionaires rose 14% over the year, to $576.8 billion.
