The Verkhovna Rada has reached an impasse, since people’s deputies from the majority of the Servant of the People are allegedly demotivated and offended by the Office of the President.

According to journalists from The Kyiv Independent, people’s deputies are dissatisfied with restrictions on travel abroad, poor communication or pressure from other government bodies, and the concentration of power in the Office of the President.
The publication recalls that the Verkhovna Rada now has a record low number of deputies – 401. This despite the fact that according to the law there should be 450. Immediately after the elections in 2019 there were 424 (some of the mandates remained free due to the impossibility of holding elections in the occupied Crimea and in Donbass). ).
Since then, 11 pro-Russian political parties have been banned, and four deputies have been stripped of their mandates. Also, people’s representatives resigned, left parliament due to criminal cases, received positions in the government and died.
At the same time, the Rada even blocked the possibility for people’s deputies to resign, except for health reasons. Servant of the People has a formal majority of 235 votes. Most laws require only 226 to pass.
But servants, despite the inability to resign, can simply not go to work and not vote. Thus, at the parliamentary meeting on March 28, only 154 members of the faction were registered.
Representative of the Presidential Office Irina Pobedonostseva said that the OP’s accusations of interfering with deputies’ foreign trips “do not correspond to reality.” She noted that the parliamentary leadership is responsible for approving trips.
According to a KIIS survey, only 15% of Ukrainians trust parliament. This is the lowest figure among all government bodies. Last year the level of trust was 35%.
