Fu Bao lives at the Shenshuping Base of the China Giant Panda Conservation and Research Center, where more than 30 individuals of the species live.
In South Korea, about 6,000 people attended a farewell ceremony for Fu Bao, the first panda born in the country, who left for China. This was reported by The Korea Times.
Fu Bao is the first panda cub born in Korea. He became a favorite among Koreans, and despite the rain, fans joined the event at the Everland amusement park.
They watched as the animal was brought to Incheon International Airport in a special van. Local media broadcast live the panda’s journey.
However, the security measures put in place for Fu Bao have been criticized by supporters.
In particular, an unidentified officer was seen sticking his finger into one of the vehicle’s container’s breathing holes and handling the panda without gloves. Fu Bao was also caught in media camera flashes upon his arrival.
Fans of Fu Bao said he “looked like a showpiece” and called on Chinese authorities to protect the young panda. They remembered that animals experience stress even from small noises, because they have very sensitive hearing.
In response, the China Giant Panda Conservation and Research Center, where Fu Bao is located, confirmed that he is “safe and in good health.”

It was previously reported that the giant panda twins were born at a Chinese breeding center.
