The EU has listened to the concerns of some African leaders about the consequences of the sanctions.
The European Union has denied the impact of international sanctions against the Russian Federation on the food crisis, including in Africa. On Monday, June 20, the EU High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, announced the absence of a relationship following a meeting of the EU Council on External Affairs, European Truth wrote.
Borrell stressed that Russia, not the European Union, is blocking grain exports from Ukraine and destroying the transport infrastructure, which has led to a global food crisis.
“It is a deliberate attempt to use food as a weapon in a war. It is a deliberate attempt to create world hunger to put pressure on the world, on the EU and Ukraine. Russia’s usual propaganda scheme has created a problem and then blame us for it. They blame EU sanctions on the food crisis. These are not our sanctions, but Russia’s actions, “insisted the top EU diplomat.
Borrell added that the EU has listened to the concerns of some African leaders about the consequences of the sanctions.
“I informed my fellow ministers that I have sent a letter to all the foreign ministers of African countries explaining how our sanctions are designed, how they work, what the consequences are and to whom they will affect, what is allowed and what is not. at the same time, we are ready to study, together with the UN, the cases that may occur in case there is an overreaction by some economic actors, “he said.
It was learned that Russia was blocking the Black Sea, so Ukraine could not export its food to the sea. He also blames the West for raising food prices because of sanctions against him.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the Russian Federation does not interfere with the export of Ukrainian grain.
The Ukrainian authorities aim to establish the post of special representative for Africa.
