War, with all its manifestations, is a very powerful stress that can have an impact on people’s minds even a few years after the battle.
Ukrainians, to one degree or another affected by Russia’s aggression during the war, will receive qualified assistance within the framework of the National Program for Mental Health and Psychosocial Support. This was reported on Monday, June 20, by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
The initiative in the Ministry of Health is explained by the fact that in addition to constant physical threats, Ukrainians are acutely stressed, so they need psychological help.
“War with all its manifestations is a very strong stress that can have an impact on people’s psyche even a few years after the battle,” the experts stressed.
They also noted that it is not worth delaying help of this kind, since it may be “too late.”
“Now we have to worry about the mental health of the population,” the message said.
The Ministry of Health noted that the psychological support program includes:
-
Creating a model of care with the participation of WHO experts.
-
Developing a system for the training of psychologists, psychotherapists, psychologists working in the system of most ministries.
-
Training of psychologists, teachers, doctors in psychological support techniques.
-
Training for family doctors, psychologists, social workers, teachers of rapid form of psychological support.
-
Creating a register of specialists and procedures.
According to the Ministry of Health, approximately 60% of Ukrainians are in need of psychological help. And the psychological consequences of the war in the form of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) will affect the citizens of Ukraine at least in the next 7-10 years.
Remember that the Russian military is torturing Ukrainian civilians who have been held hostage.
Earlier it was reported that Russian soldiers during the occupation of the village of Gusarovka in the Kharkiv region tortured and then burned three local residents.
In the Kharkiv region, on the phones of the occupiers, they find records of atrocities they committed earlier in other regions of Ukraine, especially in the Kiev region.
