Three policemen and two IRGC personnel were also killed in the clashes in the southeast of the country.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) killed 15 people who attacked IRGC targets in Sistan and Baluchistan province. Three policemen and two IRGC officers were also killed in the clash. This was reported on Thursday, April 4, by the EFE news agency.
The night before, gunmen attacked IRGC targets in the cities of Rask and Chabahar in southeastern Iran. Chabahar attackers took hostages.
After hours of clashes between IRGC forces and the attackers, all the hostages were freed.
Iranian Deputy Interior Minister Majid Mirahmadi said the radical group Jaish al-Adl, which the country recognizes as a terrorist group, was responsible for the attacks.
Jaysh al-Adl was founded in 2012. Its members are supporters of the Salafi Islamic movement.
It operates mainly in southeastern Iran, where there are problems with the security regime on the border with Pakistan.
The group has been in contact with Kurdish separatists in Iran. It is recognized as a terrorist organization in Iran, the USA, Japan, and New Zealand.
As already written, the Iranian consulate in the Syrian capital Damascus on Monday, April 1, was destroyed as a result of a powerful airstrike, which the Syrian and Iranian media attributed to Israel.
