Russia does not set restrictions on aggression towards Ukraine, therefore Western countries should not set restrictions on aid to Kyiv.
Ukraine’s strikes on Russian territory are fully legitimate within the framework of state defense. This was reported by the press service of Estonian President Alar Karis on Wednesday, April 3.
“I consider Ukrainian attacks on military targets located in the rear of the Russian Federation to be completely legitimate – it helps to slow down the Russian military machine,” Karis said.
He emphasized that it is perfectly legal to destroy infrastructure needed by the Russian army if it is connected to missile attacks and drone strikes on Ukrainian civilian and energy facilities.
Karis emphasized that Russia does not set restrictions on aggression towards Ukraine, and therefore Western countries should not set restrictions on aid to Kyiv.
“Establishing limits on aid to Ukraine will help Russia plan aggressive strikes,” the Estonian leader said.
He called on Western leaders to continue helping Ukraine and noted that the fate of many other countries depended on Ukraine’s success.
“Western countries can fill their warehouses with weapons, ammunition and equipment, but if the Ukrainians need all of it, these warehouses will lose any value,” he said.
Karis emphasized that Estonia has decided to provide military aid to Ukraine in the amount of 0.25% of its GDP for four years, and called on its allies to do the same.
“If everyone does this, Ukraine will win. We must give the Ukrainians what they really need,” he added.
Let’s recall that in March Estonia announced a military aid package for Ukraine in the amount of 20 million euros. The Ukrainian Armed Forces received anti-tank weapons, explosives, artillery shells, gas masks, sniper equipment, smaller caliber ammunition, etc.
It is also known that Ukraine and Estonia are preparing a security agreement. The OP said that since Estonia borders Russia, the security obligations should be the same.
