The parties expect more constructive developments in political events in the coming days and weeks.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba met with his Hungarian counterpart Peter Szijjártó in Brussels. As noted on Wednesday, April 3, the head of the department of foreign policy on his page at social networks X, this meeting is long.
According to Kuleba, he and Szijjarto agreed to take steps to improve relations between Ukraine and Hungary.
“We both agreed that in recent weeks some steps have been taken to overcome the problems in our bilateral relations. Given this positive dynamic, we expect more constructive developments in the coming days and weeks,” Kuleba wrote.
Let’s remember that Peter Szijjártó said that Hungary, which from July 1 will lead the Council of the European Union on a rotational basis, will lobby for Georgia and Moldova to join the EU, but will not do it for Ukraine. He said accession negotiations would focus on the “real performance” of candidate countries rather than “political pressure.”
It should be noted that a member of the European Parliament has initiated a petition to strip Hungary of its voting rights in the EU Council. The petition was supported by 120 MEPs from different political groups and several member states.
